In Which I update this blog after more than a year

To give a recap of the last year and a half since I have updated:

  • Luca, age 8, started playing practice chanter in 2018, and moved to a 3/4 set , he competed in solos on the practice chanter for the first time in May 2019
  • Nina, age 9,  competed in Novice Tenor Drumming for one year at age 8 in 2018 and then moved up to Amateur Tenor Drummer and has been competing in this grade for 2019
  • Noah, age 13, moved up to grade 3 for piping for 2019 after 1.5 years in Grade IV JR in 2017-2018
  • Gus, age 11, is in grade IV Jr for snare for 2018 and 2019
  • I am in grade IV SR but hope to move up soon, I started competing in 2017 and am still competing this year
  • We (Noah, Gus, Nina and I) have gone to NAAPD (the North American Academy of Piping And Drumming School) for two summers now. We have been very fortunate to have received scholarships for each of us to attend each summer, otherwise it would not be possible. We love this summer school so much and truly enjoy and are grateful for every moment there and are so thankful for the scholarships from various clans and organizations.
  • The kids’ band, Queen City Juvenile Pipes and Drums, competed against another juvenile band from the south and we won! at the Smoky Mt. Highland games in Knoxville, Maryville College, Noah led the band as the pipe major and did a fine job
  • The kids have performed for a couple of schools and other weddings/funerals and events and will continue that with the band and with our little band.
  • We are all still really enjoying this life and practice almost everyday and take private lessons and competing with our respective bands (Queen City JPD and Loch Norman Pipe Band) in the southeast, our next competition is in Scotland County, NC Oct 5, 2019
