At this point I (mom) have played with the juvenile band on the pipes around 4 times, beginning in July. I got the pipes in May. It’s hard to strike in, to start on E and then get the tune going up with the band. I use a music stand because I don’t have the tunes memorized yet. I also have a hard time cutting off properly. I think we are mainly playing Brown Haired Maiden/High Road to Gairloch, Castle Dangerous, Atholl Highlanders and Amazing Grace at this point.

Noah and I are taking private lessons with Andrea each Wednesday. I’m working on Prince Charles Welcome to Lochabar and McIntosh’s Banner ( a Piobaireachd).

Andrea says maybe Noah will compete on Oct 1 at the Scotland County Games with a Hornpipe and Jig. She also said that the QCJPD band will compete in the Loch Norman Games in April 2017 as a Grade V band!
